This special leather tarot card box was hand dyed and hand sewn in our shop. Hand crafted from vegetable tanned (naturally tanned) leather. We use full grain leather which retains the full richness and character of the hide. Vegetable tanned leather will develop a wonderful patina with use. The case is designed to last decades and improve with age and use.
The leather has been hand dyed in a warm Spice color, with a mildly distressed finish. The hand dying process results in a unique finish, as each piece of leather interacts with the dye to bring out the individual character of each piece.
The art has been permanently etched into the leather in black:
- The back of the cases features a large Raven standing on branch. While another Ravev flies overhead and partially wraps over the top of the case.
- The front of the case features a crowing Raven perched on the front flap and another below standing on a branch.
This case comes with a heavy antique brass metal clasp. There is a thumb slot cut out that is hidden under the front flap to allow for easy retrieval of your tarot cards.
The case is hand sewn in a heavy duty black waxed thread (saddle stitched to avoid any unraveling) that provides a perfect contrast to the warm Spice color.

We are unable to add personalization or customization to non-custom / ready-made items after purchase, because of differences in pricing, processing and shipping times, fabrication methods, and return policies. What is vegetable tanned leather?
Vegetable tanning is an organic process to preserve the leather. It uses natural tannins from plant sources, making it more environmentally friendly. It’s a slow process which takes weeks to months to complete.
Vegetable-tanned leather has some rigidity to it, which helps the product to retain its shape and integrity. Vegetable-tanned leather will soften and develop a rich patina over time, meaning your item will develop a unique and appealing appearance as it ages, only getting better with time.
By contrast, chrome-tanned leather is quickly chemically and more inexpensively tanned. It may present toxins to the environment and manufacturing employees. "Vegan", faux, or PU leather is petroleum-based polyurethane/vinyl.Tarot Case Sizing and Capacity
There are many different sizes of card decks, so be sure to check your specific deck's measurement against your listing before ordering.
Most tarot card cases are sized to house a standard sized tarot deck or smaller. The standard cases will house this size deck or smaller:
2 7/8 inches (72mm) wide
1.25 inches (32mm) deep
4 15/16 inches (125mm) tall.
All our standard size tarot cases are tested at the time of creation and prior to shipping, using a classic RW deck from a US publisher. We also have listings in our shop for palm sized (slightly smaller) or oversized decks. If you need a larger case to fit your specific deck, I would be happy to custom build one for you.
